Inspiring - Informing - Engaging
SMG and its supporting organisations have run Seminar programs in government schools for over 15 years. Students in nearly 80 South Australian government High schools regularly have the opportunity to look at life in a new way.
Seminars are provided as a resource for Inter-church groups and Schools. Gifted youth communicators, and youth workers present our seminars. Our seminars aim to be highly entertaining, interactive and thought provoking by including:

Pictures - Capturing value

You can tell a lot about a person by the pictures and images that they surround themselves with. Who they are, where they come from, what makes them laugh and cry and what is important to them. This seminar explores the reasons we as humans feel the need to capture images and moments that are dear to us and in light of that, educates what it means to be created in the image of God.

Climate Justice - Helping the planet

Planet earth is an amazing place. Unfortunately it has taken man-kind some time to understand the negative affect we can have on the planet. We believe God created the earth for us to enjoy however we also have a responsibility to keep it beautiful. This seminar educates about the effects humans can have on the planet, and encourages actions to reduce the impact for years to come.

Life Without Limits - Courage

Life can bring about its fair share of challenges. As humans we often have different struggles that can challenge and hold us back from reaching our full potential. This seminar explores the life of some amazingly courageous people, who despite their physical challenges and hardships, continue to live life without limits. This seminar aims to inspire students to make the most of their opportunities and live life to the fullest.

Mirror, Mirror -Exploring Image and Identity

Throughout high school, students journey through adolescence, which is a time of learning, exploring and developing who they are. It can be a challenging, exciting and somewhat overwhelming time, bringing with it different choices, pressures, struggles and experimentations. This engaging seminar aims to help students explore the different issues and pressures that are present with in society and begin to develop healthy and positive self images and identity.

Follow the Leader - Leadership

Google the word "leadership" and you have over one hundred and forty nine million results found in under one second. It seems that leadership has quite a role and impact within our society. What does it take to be a good leader though? This dynamic seminar will begin to explore what makes a good leader and role model and will help students to learn how they can be leaders in the world around them.

Party Safe - Safe celebration and party awareness

Australians often love to celebrate and enjoy life. Within this culture though often comes a tendency to drink and at times binge drink. Some young people struggle to make informed decisions that are beneficial to them and the people around them and can engage in at-risk behaviours. This lively seminar aims to help students learn how to celebrate their achievements in safe and healthy was. This seminar aims to highlight the impact of drug and alcohol use and the need for supportive friends and healthy choices.

Surfing - The Search

A surfer is always on The Search; the endless search for the perfect wave. The search is a lifestyle, but after finding the perfect wave, the search continues to find the next one. So what really satisfies? This fun and interactive seminar explores the greater search that we have in life. It helps explore peoples' individual potential and the connection that we have with the environment and the Creator.

Ask a child or teenager what the meaning of Easter is and you normally hear two common words: holidays and chocolate. But surely there is more depth as to why a significant portion of the world celebrates Easter. With the use of current DVD clips and interactive activities, this lively seminar will help students to explore what they believe about Easter as well as the central Christian beliefs.

Young people often find themselves struggling to find purpose and direction and can be overwhelmed by the many choices available to them. This seminar aims to help students discover directions for their lives by looking at the importance of establishing personal values, which influence healthy choices and goals they make in life.

Media and society constantly remind us of the topics of love, sex and relationships. This presentation begins to explore our need for intimacy, acceptance and a sense of belonging in our relationships while defining the true meaning of love.

Make Poverty History - Social Justice

Extreme poverty remains a massive issue in our world that has the wealth, the knowledge and the technology to substantially improve the lives of millions, if not billions, of the poorest people on the planet. This seminar aims to make students aware of the realities of global poverty and explores practical ways students can make a difference to the world they live in.
