SMG is committed to the safety and protection of all children and young people from all forms of harm. In particular the safety and holistic wellbeing of the children and young people involved in SMG programs and events is of paramount concern. To ensure that children and young people are kept safe from harm, our staff and volunteers are required to be trained in Mandatory Notification (Education & Care Focus Version), agree to adhere to a Code of Conduct when working with children and young people; and undergo training in child safety. In addition all CPS Workers and volunteers are required to provide a satisfactory National Police Clearance.
SMG Training Services conducts training on:
- Child Safe Environments Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect (Education & Care Focus version)
- 7 hour course
- Updates
Course Overview
Child Protection and providing Child Safe Environments is the responsibility of us all and especially for those working directly with children. This training will raise awareness of how your own values, attitudes and experiences will impact on your understanding of child abuse and your responses to children who may have been abused or neglected. It will also aim to create an awareness of the importance of maintaining a child's perspective and enable participants to identify a range of indicators concerning child abuse and neglect, be competent in the process and procedure of reporting to the Child Abuse Hotline and understand their legal responsibility to notify any suspicion on reasonable grounds.
SMG Training Services can also facilitate the Child Safe Environments Courses for other organizations by request.
